Terms
Effective 4 July 2026
Plain-language terms for using Rote, operated by Tarek Sadi, Berlin, Germany. By using Rote you accept them. A summary for transparency, not legal advice.
Acceptance
By using the Rote app or joining the waitlist, you agree to these terms.
What Rote is
A macOS app that captures your screen locally and uses AI to spot repetitive work and stage automations you can run.
License
Rote grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for your own use. You may not resell, redistribute, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows.
Early software, as-is
Rote is early-stage software, provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. It may change, break, or be discontinued at any time.
Automations you run
Rote stages automations (scripts and fixes) from what it observes. You choose whether to run them. You are responsible for reviewing anything you run on your machine; Rote does not execute automations without your action.
Your responsibilities
You control what is on your screen. Don't use Rote to capture or process other people's data unlawfully, or anything you're not permitted to capture.
AI processing
Redacted screen text is processed by Anthropic to generate suggestions. That processing is also subject to Anthropic's terms.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rote and Tarek Sadi are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or loss of data, arising from use of the app or automations you choose to run. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
German law governs these terms, and the courts of Berlin, Germany have jurisdiction — subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
